Skill: Multiplication | No. of Players: 2 | Set-up: Quick | Grade: 4

Students take turns rolling dice to create products. Students keep a running record of rolls and add together past products, the first students to 100 wins!


Materials:

  • 2 dice (1-6) per pair

  • Pencil and paper


How to Play:

  1. Player 1 rolls both dice, multiplies them, and records the product on a piece of paper. Player 2 then does the same turn.

  2. On the second round, players repeats the actions of rolling, multiplying, and recording and then adds the products together.

  3. The first student to get to 100 wins.


Modifications:

  1. Extra support: Allow students to use blocks as a visual reference to keep track of totals.

  2. Challenge 1: Give students three dice to roll instead of 2.

  3. Challenge 2: If available, have student roll 8 or 9 sided dice to practice multiplication fluency up to 8s and 9s.
