Skill: Multiplication | No. of players: 2-4 | Set-up: Quick
This game is a take on the game where you “capture” the square after completing lines between 2 dots. It has been a favorite of mine to play with students before breaks (rather than start a new topic) and during testing periods (to provide a less intense, but still productive time). Due to copyright permissions, I am unable to provide the link as a download, but I can send you to the source.
To get the resource:
Type in your search bar this address: https://www.games4gains.com/blog/multiplication-squares-game
Scroll down until you see “Multiplication Squares Game”, bolded and underlined. All the instructions are included in the download.
Materials
Game board (as linked above)
Different colored writing utensils
Dice (1 per group)
Pro-tip:
Consider laminating the gameboard and using white board markers for quick clean up and reusability of the game
Modifications:
Have students pair up and take turns rolling and solving the products
Allow students to use a white board or paper/pencil to draw representations of the problem.
