Skill: Place Value & Rounding | No. of Players: 2 | Set-up: Quick

Students use rounding skills to identify numbers while trying to build a line of four to win.

Materials:

  • Game board per pair

  • Different colored writing tool

  • 3 dice (1-6) per pair

How to play:

  1. Player 1 rolls three dice and use the digits to create a number.

  2. Then, player 1 rounds the number to the nearest 10 number and crosses that number out on the game board to "claim" as theirs.

  3. Player 2 then takes the same actions as Player 1.

  4. The game continues until the first student has gotten 4 in a row.

Modifications:

  1. For students to practice rounding decimals, use this game board instead. This has smaller numbers that allow students to put a decimal point wherever necessary.
